Terence J. Shepherd
CPA, MST

When you first meet Terry Shepherd you will almost certainly be struck by his energy and focus. When Terry takes on a new project, his determination and intensity are obvious.

Following a personal tragedy, Terry was determined to find a way to make a positive difference in the lives of others. As a result, he helped found Why Me, Inc, a Worcester based charitable organization that provides emotional and financial support to children with cancer and their families.

In an effort to help raise money for Why Me, Terry participated in a 5 mile run. Even though he had nearly collapsed from exhaustion after completing this first run, Terry continued his running and has since completed 3 Boston Marathons, as well as, a remarkable 155 mile, 8 day run across Massachusetts (starting at the New York border and ending at the Hatch Shell in Boston) -all to benefit Why Me.

Terry brings that same level of personal commitment to his business life. When he founded his accounting firm, he wanted to do more than provide his clients with compliance-oriented services. Terry saw a need to provide small and medium sized businesses with a special set of management services that would help each business operate more effectively and efficiently. He wanted to be an integral part of their growth and success. Today, his firm reflects that same philosophy.

In addition to managing the operation of Shepherd & Goldstein, Terry also has considerable hands-on business experience running resort motels in the Caribbean and on Cape Cod.  He has successfully converted residential condominiums, rehabbed commercial properties, developed new home construction and operated mineral properties.

A member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants, Terry has authored numerous articles focusing on accounting, finance and business issues. His writings have appeared in the CPA Review, the Business Digest of Central Massachusetts and Business Worcester. He also had a monthly bi-line in the Cape Cod Business Journal.

Terry received the annual Public Service Award from the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants in 1993 and was nominated for the AICPA's national honor. Terry is a graduate of Bentley College, Summa Cum Laude, with a B.S. in Accounting and a Masters of Science in Taxation.
