Mark Leone walks into a room, and within minutes, his calming effect is felt by all those present. His humor and magnetic personality attract people on both a personal and professional level. Immediately on display are a tireless work ethic and natural tendency toward no-nonsense honesty, both often missing today.
Several years ago, after his friend and business partner died suddenly, Mark was forced to do some soul searching. His immediate goals were to provide security to his late partner’s family, to his employees, and to his clients. He determined that merging with Shepherd & Goldstein would be beneficial to everyone and still feels that way today.
Mark’s strong sense of responsibility was instilled at a young age by his parents and grandparents who lived next door. As a child, he rose early to help care for the animals on the family’s small farm. Throughout high school and college, his enterprising spirit led him to pursue many jobs and start several seasonal businesses.
After six successful years with a machine tool manufacturer followed by four years at a prestigious international management consulting firm, Mark found his calling. He created a niche during bad economic times by representing people and businesses with tax problems. As an Enrolled Agent (EA - licensed by the US Department of the Treasury to prepare taxes and represent people before the IRS), Mark realized that in addition to tax assistance, he could still do more. He developed a passion for helping his customers pursue all of their financial goals.
Mark’s financial savvy and business acumen are reflected in the success of hundreds of clients, having helped many reduce taxes, plan to put children through graduate school, grow start-up businesses into million dollar enterprises, pursue an early retirement, as well as protect family assets from the ravages of long-term care. He is also a regular speaker whose unique presentations educate many on a variety of tax and financial planning topics.
Mark holds securities, investment advisory and insurance licenses and has attained the professional designation CFS (Certified Fund Specialist, the oldest designation in the mutual fund industry).
He is currently a member of both the Massachusetts Society of Enrolled Agents (where he previously served on the Board of Directors), and the National Society of Enrolled Agents. Mark graduated from Bentley College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.
Mark lives in Mendon with his wife, Jo-Marie. His eldest son, Sam, attends Boston University while his younger son, Ted, attends the Commonwealth Honors College, University of Massachusetts Amherst.
